As of May 31, 2014 live technical support and business services – including Intuit QuickBooks Payroll – discontinues for QuickBooks. Intuit is committed to developing easy, straightforward financial tools that help you today and grow with you tomorrow. This commitment leads to the annual sunsetting of an older version of their product. In this case, it is QuickBooks 2011.
What should you do if you are still using QuickBooks 2011? Start shopping! QuickBooks 2014 is the current version on the store shelves and you can always find a great deal at Amazon, as well.
When you upgrade to QuickBooks 2014, managing payroll becomes even easier with these features not available with your current version of QuickBooks:
- Manage payroll from one central location: The improved Payroll Center lets you easily pay employees, pay payroll taxes, and file taxes in three easy steps.
- Automatically save tax forms: QuickBooks auto-saves a PDF version of your tax forms when you print or e-file them.
- Run payroll on your terms: Save pending paychecks and then return later to finish them.
- Make working with contractors easier: Pay 1099 vendors using direct deposit and then stay compliant by e-filing your 1099-MISC forms with the IRS using the new 1099 wizard.
This may also be the time for you to check out QuickBooks Online, the web-based alternative to QuickBooks. I’ve become a huge fan of QuickBooks Online simply because it can be accessed from any internet-connected computer, including Macs and tablets. I can view the same QuickBooks Online file as my client across the country. The data lives “in the cloud” and can also be accessed from the new QuickBooks Online iPad app. Another one of my favorite features of QuickBooks Online is the ability to automatically email recurring monthly invoices…very cool!
As always, if you need help in upgrading your QuickBooks data to QuickBooks 2014 or if you’re ready to take the leap into the cloud with QuickBooks Online, contact us for any of your QuickBooks needs!
